KB005935: Agilent Poroshell 120 Column Specifications and Options

Poroshell 120 EC-CN
Poroshell 120 EC-CN is made by first chemically bonding a dense monolayer of dimethyl-cyanopropylsilane stationary phase to a the porous shell of Poroshell 120 silica support. The bonded phase is double-endcapped using proprietary reagents and procedures to obtain maximum deactivation of the silica surface. The extra-dense coatng of bonded phase and exhaustive endcapping simultaneously deactivate the silica surface from deleterious interactions with samples and also protects the silica from dissolution in intermediate and higher pH environments.

Start with 5% methanol or acetonitrile in water as the initial solvent, and 100% methanol or acetonitrile as the final solvent. We recommend adding 0.1% formic acid in both A and B bottles. If using LC/MS, we recommend starting with 5 - 10 mM ammonium formate, ammonium acetate, ammonium hydroxide, 0.1% acetic acid or 0.1% formic acid. We recommend against using ammonium bicarbonate.
