KB005935: Agilent Poroshell 120 Column Specifications and Options

Poroshell 120 HILIC
Poroshell 120 HILIC columns are non-bonded silica columns based on high-performance Poroshell 120 superficially porous silica that has a solid silica core and a porous outer layer. This type of particle provides high efficiency at lower pressures when compared to small, totally porous particles and is ideal for fast or high-resolution separations of many types of analytes. Agilent Poroshell 120 HILIC columns are for use in hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC) applications, typically used for retention and resolution of small polar compounds.

Start with 5% methanol or acetonitrile in water as the initial solvent, and 100% methanol or acetonitrile as the final solvent. We recommend adding 0.1% formic acid in both A and B bottles. If using LC/MS, we recommend starting with 5 - 10 mM ammonium formate, ammonium acetate, ammonium hydroxide, 0.1% acetic acid or 0.1% formic acid. We recommend against using ammonium bicarbonate.
