Agilent ZORBAX Bonus-RP Column Specifications and Options
Agilent ZORBAX Bonus-RP is a polar-embedded chemistry to improve peak shapes for basic compounds at low and mid-pH. Agilent makes Bonus-RP by using a unique combination of densely-reacted sterically-protected, diisopropyl-C14 groups covalently bonded through an "embedded" amide functionality to ZORBAX Rx-SIL. Chromatographers looking for orthoganol separations often turn to Bonus-RP.

phenols, DMA, ionizable compounds Start with 5% methanol or acetonitrile in water as the initial solvent, and 100% methanol or acetonitrile as the final solvent. We recommend adding 0.1% formic acid (LC and LC/MS) or 0.1% TFA (LC) in both A and B bottles. This column can be used with 100% aqueous. Expect selectivity changes between acids and bases versus alkyl bonded phase columns (i.e. C18, C8). For example, acidic compounds or those with multipe OH groups are typically well-retained on Bonus-RP. If using LC/MS, we recommend starting with 5 - 10 mM ammonium formate, ammonium acetate, ammonium hydroxide, 0.1% acetic acid or 0.1% formic acid. We recommend against using ammonium bicarbonate.
